PUBLIC NOTICE WITH REGARDS TO MUNICIPAL SERVICES DURING THE NATIONAL COVID-19 LOCKDOWN, ALERT LEVEL 3 READINESS
Water:
- Only the repairs and maintenance of water lines will be performed during this period.
- All water faults and interruptions are to be reported to the municipal call centre on 022 701 7061.
Sewerage Pumping:
- Sewerage pumping will operate as per normal service.
- Contact the call centre on 022 701 7061.
Electricity:
- Only repairs and maintenance of electrical network and e.g. streetlights to ensure the continual supply.
- No new installations or connections.

Traffic Department:
- Driving Licence Testing Centre (DLTC), the centre will operate from Monday to Friday between 08:00 and 15:00.
- No new appointments for learners or driving licence tests during this period.
- Officials will contact residents to reschedule tests that were booked to be taken during the period 1 March to 30 June 2020.
- Registering Authority (RA) is open for business as follows:
- No other transactions at the registering authority office except the renewal of expired motor vehicle licence discs, motor dealers, bank and fleet owner transactions.
- Vredenburg offices on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesday from 08:00 to 15:00 and on Saturdays from 08:00 to 13:00.
- Vredenburg Registration Authority, ONLY Motor Vehicle Dealers, Banks and Fleet Owners on Thursdays and Fridays from 08:00 to 15:00.
- Langebaan, Satellite Registering Authority, Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 13:00 and 13:30 to 15:00.

Local Economic Development:

- Thabisile Mkhize will assist with all public requests that can also be made via the telephone service available in the Red Building, Main Road Vredenburg. We will attend to urgent public inquiries and the issuing of informal trading (stalls) applications and documentation only.

Area Engineering Services: (Water and sewerage services)
Will continue as per normal in all towns.

Municipal Buildings and Facilities:
All resorts, community halls, campsites and sport fields remain closed under the current alert level regulations.
Library Services:
- All libraries will be closed.
- Library material currently in your care will automatically be renewed until 1 July 2020. **No fines will be incurred during this period.
Burials:
- About Funerals and Cemeteries, contact the Help Desk on 022 701 6911, Mondays to Thursdays from 10:00 to 13:00 only.
- Cemeteries are open to assist with the preparation of graves.
Public Toilets:
All public toilets (except at taxi ranks) will remain closed.
Communal Toilets:
Will remain open and will be cleaned and sanitised daily.
Refuse Removal:
- Household refuse removal services (“green wheelie bins”) will continue as per usual, Monday to Friday.
Business: Refuse collected only on days when the respective towns are serviced. - Please place your recycling bags out for collection on your scheduled refuse collection day.
- All waste transfer stations, and public drop-off facilities are open.
- Possible infected refuse (personal waste e.g. disposable cleaning clothes, tissues, used gloves and masks) must be disposed into two plastic bags or sealed containers to be placed in closed ring bin.
- Residents are requested to please sanitize or wash their hands with water and soap for 20 seconds before and after handling wheelie bins. This measure is to protect both the public and the essential refuse removal teams.
- Residents are requested to refrain from approaching refuse removal personnel. If this is not possible 2 meters must always be kept.
- Residents are requested to refrain from leaving tinned food or other goods for the refuse removal personnel. Even though this is a great gesture, it creates an additional risk of spreading the coronavirus.

Recycling Services:
- Recycling services for households will continue as per normal schedule.
- Recycling services for essential businesses (e.g. pharmacies, medical services, super-markets and fuelling stations) will continue as per normal schedule.
- Skip removal services in informal settlements will continue as per normal schedule.
- Grab-trucks, wheelie bin distribution and internal recycling will continue as per normal schedule.
Public Meetings:
All public meetings and gatherings will remain suspended until further notice. These include municipal public participation gatherings.
Accounts:
- Consumers can settle their municipal account at retail stores where the EazyPay logo is displayed by using the reference number on their municipal account.
- Consumers can settle their municipal account via Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) instead of settling their municipal account at any of the municipality’s offices. The details are as follows:

- Consumers on prepaid electricity can buy electricity online from the municipality’s prepaid vendor by visiting the municipality’s website and registering for online electricity purchase via the following link: sbm.gov.za/payment-center
- From 1 June 2020 the auxiliary method of payment was re-instated. The decision was necessitated due to the municipality’s financial position deteriorating since implementation of lockdown.

Tenders and Quotation:
- The SCM unit is operational.
- Outstanding bidding processes are now in process of being completed.
- Service providers are encouraged to view the municipal website, local newspapers, CIDB and E-tender website for new advertisements.
