The Saldanha Bay Municipality’s Public Safety Services marked October Transport Month with a strong display of visible enforcement, integrated action and inter-agency cooperation during a Joint Road Safety Parade and Integrated Operation.
The operation brought together the South African Police Service, Municipal Traffic Services, Policing and Law Enforcement, Fire and Rescue Services, Disaster Management, Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, Sea Border, all working towards one common goal: safer roads and safer communities.
Key operational successes includes:
- 240 vehicles stopped and checked
- 103 Section 56 notices issued
- 19 public transport offences addressed
- 12 Law Enforcement fines issued
- 5 warrants executed
- 2 vehicles discontinued
- 1 vehicle impounded
These results demonstrate that visible enforcement, strong partnerships and coordinated action make an impact. But behind every statistic is a much bigger purpose: to protect lives. Every unsafe vehicle removed from our roads reduces a risk. Every offence addressed reinforces accountability. Every responsible decision by a motorist, passenger, cyclist or pedestrian can prevent a tragedy.
Our message to every road user is simple: Slow down, buckle up, stay sober, stay alert, obey the rules of the road and respect other road users.
Road safety is not only the responsibility of Traffic Services or law-enforcement agencies. It belongs to all of us. Through the Saldanha Bay Safety Initiative (SBSI), the Municipality remains committed to strengthening partnerships, supporting integrated operations and promoting safer communities throughout the municipal area.
One road. One responsibility. One goal: everyone arrives alive.
