WATER INTERRUPTION: LANGEBAAN, 25 JUNE 2024

Jun 20, 2024

Date:                     Tuesday, 25 June 2024

Time frame:       06:00 – 23:00 (A total water shut down between 07:00 until 19:00 on 25 June 2024)

Affected areas: Long Acres, Langebaan Country Estate, Oliphantskop, Laguna Sands, Laguna Mall, Calypso Beach, Skiathos, Mykonos, Leentjiesklip

We wish to inform you that the municipal contractor overseeing the construction of the new Oliphantskop reservoir and bulk water supply will be executing a critical phase of construction. This involves integrating the new bulk water pipeline with the existing water supply network. To achieve this, the existing reservoir will be temporarily decommissioned. Water supply to the above-mentioned areas will be temporary interrupted during this period.

Key Timelines:

Reservoir Inflow Shutdown: The inflow to the existing reservoir will be closed off from 19:00 on 24 June 2024 until 19:00 on 25 June 2024 (water flow and pressure will be reducing).

Reservoir Outflow Shutdown: The outflow from the existing reservoir will cease by 07:00 on 25 June 2024 (no water flow and pressure).

Bulk pipeline Changeover: The switchover from the new reservoir bulk supply to the existing system is scheduled for 25 June 2024, between 07:00 and 19:00.

Resumption of Service: Both reservoir inflow and outflow will resume immediately after the completion of the necessary work, with the expectation of restoring full water supply by 23:00 on 25 June 2024.

We have carefully planned these operations to minimise impact and disruption. Saldanha Bay Municipality understands the inconvenience construction can cause and are dedicated to mitigating it as much as possible. Water tankers will be on standby throughout this period.  Should any unexpected issues arise, we are fully prepared to address them swiftly.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this essential upgrade to our water supply infrastructure.
