ELECTRICITY TARIFFS FOR THE 2019/2020 FINANCIAL YEAR

10 July 2019

Included in this month’s issue of the Express newsletter, is an article that was published in the Weslander on 4 April 2019 reporting on the March 2019 tabled budget report of Saldanha Bay Municipality. This provides an overview of the electricity tariffs for the 2019/20 financial year. It is included for information purposes.

From 1 July 2019 the pre-paid electricity of residential consumers with a 40 Ampere and 60 Ampere single-phase electricity connection will be charged R75 and R100 respectively. The municipality restructured its electricity tariffs last year (2018/19) for all electricity consumers, effective from 1 July 2018. The net effect was that the kWh unit charge was reduced, and a fixed charge was introduced. Council then decided to suspend the pre-paid electricity capacity charge for the above-mentioned two categories, for that financial year.

It is now being re-introduced in a phased approach, after considering the October 2018 public inputs received and further deliberations on it during the 2019/20 budget process.
