The West Coast District Municipality in partnership with KIEZ in Germany is creating opportunities for youth to exchange knowledge and experiences with the objective of capacitating them to become the leaders of tomorrow.

During August 2019, fourteen youth from the West Coast region will visit Germany as part of the exchange programme while students and staff from Germany will visit the West Coast region during October 2019.

The “home-stays” remains one of the most exciting parts of the exchange programme. During the weekend of 4 – 6 October 2019, German students will be hosted by West Coast families. They will have the opportunity to experience what it is like to be South African by having traditional meals, socializing, visiting family members while experiencing a range of authentic experiences. The culture exchange has proven to be enriching and enhance tolerance and understanding of the differences and similarities which exist between the two countries.

Families and households residing within the borders of the West Coast District are invited to be part of this very successful programme by hosting one or more German student/s for the weekend of 4 – 6 October 2018.

For more information or to apply to host a student, contact Melonice Blanckenberg on 022 433 8501 or email mblanckenberg@wcdm.co.za before 31 July 2019. Alternatively you can contact Evenlencia Petersen on 022 433 8534 or email ecfolding@wcdm.co.za

The Alkaster family from St Helena Bay hosted German students in 2017.
